The Third Half: Clean Shorts - Rashik Parmar

In this episode, Rashik Parmar, a long-time tech leader turned community builder talks about what happens when you stop building systems and start building something that actually matters to people.

During the pandemic, Rashik and five friends noticed something simple but urgent. Elderly members of their community had lost their lifeline, the weekly visits to temples, mosques, and gurdwaras that kept them connected. Instead of knocking on doors, they asked a bigger question: what if we built a radio station?

What started as a lockdown experiment with hokey presenters and a box of wires has grown into Rangoli Radio, a fully digital, volunteer-run community station with 59 presenters, over 10,000 listeners across 182 countries, and a mission that goes well beyond entertainment.

What I find most compelling is the ripple effect. Rashik also makes a point that sticks with you. In a world drowning in noise and influence, community radio is one of the few spaces left where people actually listen, not scroll, not react, but listen deeply. And that matters more now than ever.
