One Briton’s mission to rescue Ukrainians from the war- Dave Young

Dave Young was highlighted during ledger entries episode 4, with Alan young aka Serious Child. He is a British volunteer in Ukraine focused on two things: getting food into frontline towns and getting people out. He often works from exact addresses sent by relatives, then drives into places like Bakhmut to find and evacuate them. The Times short film “Another Man’s War” follows him on these runs, made with the Ukrainian charity HelpPeople. He has moved hundreds of civilians to safety since 2022, despite being badly wounded on the job. Shrapnel cost him an eye during an evacuation, and he returned to the road after recovering.
