Hmm, does mistaken identity and the promise of ' Lunch with the CEO of ICI qualify? '
If so, back in the day when my single mother married, my surname for a while was Wigley and in my early 20s I worked for a large German Chemical company in their sales team in Wembley, NW London.
I get a call from a Lady , saying would I like lunch with the then CEO of ICI as he wanted to discuss some ideas with me.
Cue confusion as she carried in saying that we could meet in Manchester or London and what restaurant she was going to book for us , as she was obviously his PA (it was 1987 so possibly Secretary back then)
After a couple of minutes, she could sense the hesitation in my voice , plus maybe that I was in my 20s , that she asked if was (first name redacted), surname Rigby, the current CEO of my company.
' No, im Simon Wigley ', I said....
Cue embarrassment from her , apologies from me (so English, it was her error!) and laughter from colleagues in my open plan office , all significantly older than I.
The Bad idea ?
I should've arranged the dinner and gone through with it.
