On 1 September 2025, I published the first episode of what was then called The Tech Ledger, with Andy Gomarsall MBE, Rugby World Cup winner. The name has changed since. The idea hasn't: sit down with people whose lives took a turn they didn't plan, and ask them how they got there.
Fourteen months on, I've talked to a former Scotland rugby captain, a historian and educationalist on a mission to reform how we teach, a Swedish pianist whose music ended up in the Stranger Things finale, a cheesemaker, a crime novelist, and a charity CEO who started out with a clipboard on a London street. More than forty conversations, and not one of them followed the PowerPoint.

So the show is past its first birthday (I missed it, so consider this the belated party), and you know what's coming. An ask. It takes thirty seconds.
If any of these conversations made you think, laugh or rethink something, please leave us a rating. On Apple Podcasts and Spotify, ratings are what help new people find the show. Right now we have three. Three. Even Airdrie FC would be embarrassed. Can we get to 20 by Sunday? I'll post the number on Thursday so you can see how we're doing.
Rate on Apple Podcasts: open it on your iPhone, iPad or Mac, scroll down to Ratings & Reviews and tap the stars.
Rate on Spotify: the app only lets you rate once you've listened, so play a minute or two of any episode first (though I have favourites), then tap the star on the show's page.
And if you've done it, reply to this email or leave a comment below and tell me. I read every one.
And if you'd rather do something with your thumbs than your stars, share one episode with one person you think would enjoy it. That's how most of you found us in the first place.
One more thing. On 20 November we're recording our first live episode, at Wokingham Theatre, with Simon Robson and his book None of Us Are Broken. I'm not sure I agree with him yet. Come and watch me find out.
Thank you for listening, reading and putting up with me for fourteen months. Somebody pass the cheese.
Scott
